Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stunned Chelsea this week by rejecting the chance to sign on the dotted line at Stamford Bridge and fans have their own theories regarding his decision.
Arsenal would prefer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Chelsea over Liverpool The logical conclusion is that Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen to avoid playing at wing-back and has his eye on a spot in Liverpool’s midfield, with the Reds also interested in landing the 24-year-old England star.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea used Gary Cahill as inspiration and told Oxlade-Chamberlain that he can become a winner under Antonio Conte – just like the defender.
Following the news that the Arsenal man had turned Chelsea down, a number of supporters joked that the Cahill comparison was the real reason he rejected them.

There were serious doubts over Cahill’s qualities when he joined the Blues back in 2012, but the centre-back has since got his hands on every major honour and is now club captain.

Two die in Lagos tanker fire

Fire razed two tankers on Monday at the Cele bus stop on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos State, during which two persons died. Our correspondent gathered that the fire, which started around 4pm, was caused by one of the trucks – a tanker carrying 33,000 litres of petrol – which was discharging fuel by the expressway. It was learnt that the driver of the tanker, as well as the motor boy, were killed in the inferno. ebony9ja learnt that the fire spread to the second truck, which was on the Cele-Ikotun Bridge, and the two tankers were razed. Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the police were said to have responded to the emergency.
