Jonathan denies nursing 2019 presidential ambition

The immediate past president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has denied a report that he is interested in contesting the 2019 presi­dential election. An online me­dium had reported that Jonathan declared interest to run for presidency in 2019 in Bayelsa yesterday, adding that the former president was inundated with calls from Nigerians to recontest and salvage the economy from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
But Daily Sun quotes Jonathan’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, as denying the former president is considering taking another shot at the presidency.
Eze added that the former president never made any declaration on 2019 election, either in May or this month.

Senate says Nigeria accounts for 40% of gas flared annually in Africa The Senate said on Wednesday that Nigeria accounts for over 40 per cent of the gas flared annually across Africa,  which amounts to about $7 billion in waste, Vanguard reports. It also declared Nigeria was losing over $2.5 billion to gas-flaring  annually and that the country also accounts for an estimated two billion standard cubic feet of flared gas, which amounts to about 19 per cent of gas flared globally.
