Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has called on the Muslim faithful to always remain peaceful and to continually pray for the state to ensure that the existing peace endures.

He added that without peace, no development can take place in any society and thanked the Muslim community in the state for their peaceful conduct.
Earlier, Sheik Ibrahim thanked Governor Ortom for his support to the Muslim community and his modest developmental achievements in the face of severe financial difficulties.
Sheik Ibrahim and all the leaders from the three senatorial zones in the state who spoke called for the reconstitution of the Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board to enable intending pilgrims benefit from the spiritual guidance that the board provides in addition to facilitating the success of the holy journey.
Sheik Ibrahim who thanked Governor Ortom for the appointments given members of the community appealed for more appointments arguing that that they have no other home than Benue state and so should always be considered when it comes to patronage.
In his comments, Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Alhaji Isa Usman called on his fellow Muslims not to forget the lessons of the 30 days fast but to hold them dear to their hearts and live peacefully with all their neighbours.
Benue State Governor,
Dr. Samuel Ortom, is a happy and sad man. He assumed office with a sense
of excitement, promising to change the landscape and standard of living
of his people. But after walking the talk for one year, he has
discovered that the state is enmeshed in huge debts, with arrears of
salaries of civil servants at both state and local government level,
constituting a serious challenge to his administration. While that
remains, accusation of his administration milking the state’s lean purse
has reverberated, causing him to be furious over the claim.
In this interview, Governor Ortom, dispelled the rumours about missing
state funds and pointed accusing fingers at those he claimed looted the
state to the tune of over N107 billion. According to him, the looters
are still after him and his administration, using the funds they stole
from the state to try to derail him from delivering on his campaign
promises to the people of the state. Excerpts:
