Ortom vs Jime: Benue youths accuse APC of planning to thumb-print ballot papers

Image
Ahead of the March 23 supplementary election in Benue State, youths in the state have accused the All Progressives Congress of planning to thumb-print ballot papers ahead of the poll. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had ordered for a rerun after declaring the guber election in the state inconclusive. The electoral umpire hinged its reason on the fact that the number of the margin between the winner and the runner-up was lesser than the number of canceled votes. It subsequently fixed March 23 as date for a rerun. Comrade Terrence Kuanum, President, Benue Youth Forum, BYF, who raised the alarm on Tuesday, named APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, former Benue Governor, George Akume and APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu as real enemies of the state. Terrence vowed that Benue youths would resist every attempt by the APC national body to impose its candidate, Emmanuel Jime on the state. His statement reads below. Our re...

Eden Hazard: Maurizio Sarri suits me more than Jose Mourinho

Image
Eden Hazard says he is more suited to the philosophy of Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri than former boss Jose Mourinho. Sarri admitted after Sunday’s 6-0 defeat at Manchester City that his position at Chelsea is under scrutiny, with his side dropping out of the top four after three league defeats in their last four games. The Italian also said after Sunday’s thrashing that he would welcome a call from club owner Roman Abrahmovic, but conceded it was unlikely as he never “hears from him” – raising questions over his future. Hazard, who was the subject of public criticism from Sarri in January, previously expressed his regret at how his time with Mourinho ended at Chelsea and said he wants to work with the coach again. However, the Belgium international forward admits he shares more similarities with Sarri, telling Chelsea’s official website: “All the managers I’ve played for have given me something. “From when I started with Claude Puel at Lill...

Image
After playing few games and getting up to full speed and loving the challenge in the league, Super Eagles captain and Middlesbrough midfielder, John Obi Mikel, can’t wait for the midweek clash with Sheffield United as he gets to grips with a ‘crazy’ division he believes is tougher than the top flight. The former Chelsea midfielder has been eased in to the first team as he gets to grips with the hectic schedule. He arrived at Boro in January after a three month lay-off following his exit from Chinese side Tianjin and been used sparingly. He played an hour in the first FA Cup clash with Newport then 75 minutes in the 3-2 win at West Brom. Mikel, 31, played the full 102 minutes of the enthralling and entertaining 1-1 draw with Leeds and admitted he was ‘blowing’ afterwards. “Yes, it was very tiring,” he said. “We will see if I am OK for Wednesday. I need an ice pack or two and let’s see what happens.” Asked if he was fully match fit yet he laughed and s...

APC to Atiku: Face the issues

Image
The All Progressives Congress has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to dwell more on his agenda for the country, rather than dissipating energies on raising puerile allegations daily. The party was reacting to Abubakar’s several attacks on President Buhari, where in one of them he accused unidentified relations of Buhari of buying up shares in Etisalat. APC publicity secretary, Malam Lanre Isa-Onilu said Abubakar may be exhibiting early signs of depression, resulting from obvious frustration as he is unable to focus on his campaign. “Otherwise, Atiku should tell Nigerians why a discredited person like him should be elected as President instead of raising puerile allegations on a daily basis. President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), not his programmes for the country appear to be his main campaign issues. “Nigerians are desirous of campaign that focuses on issues that matter to them.
