NDLEA intercepts truck-load of hemp in Benue

NDLEA officials
This interception occurred less than a week after similar substance was intercepted in Edo State.
Operatives of the NDLEA Benue state command intercepted the truck at 7:35pm while patrolling along Otukpo- Aliade highway.
The state commander, Mrs. Florence Ezeonye, while displaying the intercepted items in Makurdi, said the truck was conveying the substance from Edo State to Maiduguri, Borno State.
‘’The information got to us on October 30, 2017 about the illegal goods. At a point, we thought we had lost it because after series of search, we found nothing.
“We were working on the information available to us while the suspects too were working on our intelligence to know when the officers were on the road,’’ Ezeonye said.
According to her, when the suspects got to the point of search, they presented their truck as a vehicle carrying building materials.
But on top of the cannabis sativa were fine building stones wrapped in small cement bags.
The truck driver told NDLEA officers that the product was for export.
