Suspected ritualists beheads 12-year old girl in Delta

2019: Customs tightens security against smuggling of firearms

0   The Nigeria Customs Services on Thursday said it has tightened security across Nigeria borders in order to tackle the proliferation and smuggling of firearms into the country ahead of next year’s general elections. The Comptroller – General, Hameed Ali, said the service was also watching the seaports, as most firearms and ammunition are smuggled into the country through the ports. He spoke with reporters during the conduct of promotion exercise for the Nigerian Customs Service at the Computer Based Test Centre of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, in Abuja. MTN executive exits said to intensify amid Nigeria crisis

MTN Group is set to lose another high-ranking executive over the next few months, according to people familiar with the matter, as Africa’s largest wireless carrier by sales fights more than $10-billion of claims in its largest market of Nigeria. Chief Innovation Officer  Herman Singh  is expected to leave imminently, and will move on to start his own tech venture, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the information hasn’t been made public. The exit will come as Chief Technology Officer  Babak Fouladi prepares to join Dutch telecommunications firm KPN in a similar role next week. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his party, are dancing on the graves of fallen soldiers. Atiku had commented on the death of soldiers to Boko Haram attacks, while his party (the PDP) alleged that the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, diverted funds for the military to the APC campaign. Benue govt speaks on alleged missing N33bn LG funds

The Benue State Government has reacted to a report that over N33bn funds belonging to local government areas in the state were stolen in three years. The state described the report as malicious, misleading and fallacious. Ahangba Ayati, Information Officer, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in a statement issued on Tuesday, affirmed that no funds belonging to the Local Government Councils in Benue State have been diverted by the Governor or any other government official, contrary to the claim by the said publication. Ayati said the claim was a figment of the imagination of the publisher and his paymasters in desperate attempts to smear the hard earned reputation of Governor Samuel Ortom and his administration. The Benue State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist over the murder of one Oketa Simon, a 300level Mass Communication undergraduate of Benue State University. Simon, also a suspected cultist, was shot dead on November 6, 2018, in a farm opposite Rahama Clinic Logo II Makurdi. The Police arrested 18-year-old Samuel Ochoechi who claimd to be a musician under one penny record in makurdi, a non student in connection to the crime. The suspect during investigation, confessed to have conspired with three others namely; Bem Uper aka Movement, Viper and Chemical, all members of the Red Confraternity and killed the deceased who is said to be a member of the Black Confraternity over a missing Jean trouser.
