BREAKING: Biafra: El-Rufai orders arrest of youths who gave Igbos three months to leave North Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has ordered the arrest of people behind the three-month quit notice given to Igbos to leave the North. Trump’s abandonment of Paris Climate Agreement detrimental to Africa – Experts Environmental activists and politicians said Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to abandon the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement was going to be “detrimental” for Africa,  P.M. News reports. “It will now be much harder to protect people on the African continent from the effects of climate change,” World Wide Fund for Nature South Africa researcher Jaco du Toit said. The withdrawal from the accord by the world’s second-biggest carbon polluter jeopardizes financing for mitigation and control efforts across the African continent, according to du Toit. Senate says Nigeria accounts for 40% of gas flared annually in Africa The Senate said on Wednesday that Nigeria accounts for over 40 per cent of the gas flared annually across Africa,  which amounts to about $7 billion in waste, Vanguard reports. It also declared Nigeria was losing over $2.5 billion to gas-flaring  annually and that the country also accounts for an estimated two billion standard cubic feet of flared gas, which amounts to about 19 per cent of gas flared globally. The upper legislative chamber has, therefore, set in motion a machinery to repeal the 39-year-old law which recommends only N10 as fine for gas flaring.
